Wedding Garter
A Wedding Garter has been part of the traditional wedding ceremony for centuries. It has many different meanings in folklore and has become one of those modern traditions that we just can’t forget.
Many brides toss the garter to the crowds in much the same way that the wedding bouquet would be thrown.
This is usually executed at the end of the evening, prior to the newly weds leaving the wedding reception. This is timed nicely as some of the younger guests and grandparents may have left earlier and it gives the bride, groom and the rest of the guests time for some liquid courage!
We have all heard of the old adage something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue well the garter could be a blue garter or could be a wedding garter which has been borrowed from a friend or relative.
It has become popular for mothers and grandmothers to pass down their bridal garters to their daughter on their wedding day as a symbol of good luck and to remind them that are still with them on their big day.
Whatever type or colour of Wedding Garters you choose, don’t forget that all important photograph of the Groom atempting to remove the Wedding Garter from his brides thigh. A favourite with many couples, their friends, family and of course the photographer!
